ARTPOST Opening: Applied Imagination

ARTPOST Spring Opening:
Saturday, April 2, 2011 / 7pm - 10pm
Both Mrs. Eaves and Zuzu agree on one thing — taking a new studio at ARTPOST in East Austin back in January was a great decision. Yes, Mrs. Eaves fretted over the distance, but come to find out, it's really helpful to have that separation time, time to create some space between home life and studio life. And Zuzu has been ecstatic over the wealth of creative energy buzzing around ARTPOST.

With more than 20 resident and visiting professional artists working in renovated warehouse and quonset huts ARTPOST is a bastion for new  contemporary abstract painting, interpretive sculpture, fashion industry jewelry, large format printmaking, spatial-scale installation work, and screen printing.

Other artists working at ARTPOST include Court Lurie, Lacey Richter, Tina Schweiger, Dan Arredondo, Brian Crumley, Foster Talge, Rene Norman, Katy Horan, Taft Mashburn, Leah Haney, Rachel Long, Jim Pierce, Tim Schmidt, Ezra Masch, Squid Ink Kollective, Scott Proctor, Marianne McGrath, Nick Dertien and Heather Parrish.

So, if you live in Austin, stop by Saturday night to see some really innovative work. Court Lurie is hot off a solo show in New York and the sculptors over in the warehouse have some fascinating new work in glass, bronze and plaster. And, of course, Mrs. Eaves and Zuzu have ensured that I have lots of new work, too.

Saturday, April 2  / 7pm - 10 pm
ARTPOST, 4704 East Cesar Chavez, Austin, TX
