Music For The Masses...ACL and More

We may not have the crisp feeling in the air or the crunch of new fallen leaves under our feet, but we certainly have the electricity of the excitement of ACL (Austin City Limits Music Festival for those who live in a musical cave) in the air! Nothing beats a day with Aloe Black, the Court Yard Hounds, Stevie Wonder and a steady rain!

In keeping with the spirit of a melting pot of music, I hung some new work at Berry Austin on Second Avenue, next to the Austonian. The owner of Berry Austin, Kathy Steele, and I were comparing notes on the headaches of pouring resin one afternoon (Kathy creates the amazing mosaics and countertops in Berry Austin) when she asked me to hang some work from my "Subsequent Discord" series. I created all of the pieces in this series from old concert billboard signage that I have collected from the streets in Austin. I love the way the Latin fusion, alt rock, hip hop and country signage literally melt together, influencing each other much in the way the actual music inspires the others. The work will be on display at Berry Austin through November.
